The first Allens Hub Debate

Start Date

If an autonomous vehicle is involved in an accident, who's liable? If robots can be held accountable for their actions, should they also have the right to own property, execute contracts and pay taxes? Is personhood the most appropriate legal mechanism for regulating the activities of robots?

These were some of the considerations the courageous Allens lawyers explored in our first ever Allens Hub debate. While both teams put forward extremely persuasive legal arguments, enhanced by just the right dose of pop culture references, irreverent Allens humour and tin foil props, our esteemed judges from the Hub, Lyria Bennet Moses, Marc de Leeuw and David Vaile, deemed the negative team the winners on the day.
